Impact of EU emissions regulations on replacement engine operations.

2024-11-28

The first emissions regulation came into force through EU Directive 97/68/EC and level I of this directive came into force in 1999. In this context, level 0 refers to the time before emission restrictions came into force.

In the power class 130kW – 560kW, we may not deliver EU level 1 or lower replacement motors without deposit return after December 31, 2021.

In the power class 75kW – 130kW, we may not deliver EU level 1 or lower replacement motors without deposit return after December 31, 2022.

In the power class 37kW – 75kW, we may not deliver EU level 1 or lower replacement motors without deposit return after December 31, 2023.

As Tier 1 and lower Xchange engines cannot be supplied directly to the customer within the EU, their availability as replacement engines ceases according to the schedules above. However, your engine can still be factory rebuilt. That is, in practice, the old engine is first delivered to the factory, after which it is refurbished into a factory-repaired engine, the scope of delivery of which corresponds to a newly manufactured engine with warranty and performance.
